MIFARE DESFire Cards
The MIFARE DESFire family consists of the Mifare DESFire EV1, Mifare DESFire EV2 and Mifare DESFire Light contactless integrated circuits and are suited for solution developers and system operators building reliable, interoperable and scalable contactless solutions. Used mainly in multi-application smart card solutions in applications related to transport systems, access control, identification and micropayments. Mifare DESFire products meet the requirements of fast and highly secure data transmission, flexible memory organization and are compatible with existing proximity infrastructure.
The main characteristics of cards family are denoted by its name "DESFire": DES indicates the high level of security using a 3DES or AES hardware cryptographic engine for enciphering transmission data and Fire indicates its outstanding position as a fast, innovative, reliable, and secure IC in the contactless proximity transaction market.
Mifare DESFire EV1 is based on open global standards for both the radio interface and cryptographic methods. It complies with all 4 levels of ISO / IEC 14443A and uses optional ISO / IEC 7816-4 commands. Mifare DESFire EV1 provides a good balance between speed, performance and cost effectiveness. Thanks to the intelligent backup management system and mutual three pass authentication, the Mifare DESFire EV1 smart card can hold up to 28 different applications and 32 files per application.
Compared to Mifare DESFire EV1, the Mifare DESFire EV2 can holds as many different applications as the memory size supports, and new applications can be loaded after the card has been put into use. The memory can even be shared between applications, ensuring greater interoperability.
Designed for single application applications, Mifare DESFire Light is an easy-to-integrate, economical and secure way to implement contactless transactions in a range of services. The predefined file system and total available memory of 640 bytes make it an excellent choice for projects with one application in a wide range of applications.
All types of Mifare DESFire cards are compatible with NFC standards.
